This role involves providing leadership in enterprise-wide architecture and engineering, crafting solutions for business needs, overseeing their implementation, and resolving complex issues across all environments. The ability to work effectively with both business leaders and the technology enterprise is key.

Responsibilities

?      Become the leading expert on the technologies operating in the Backoffice and how they are used (processes, workflows, integrations, etc) by working closely with our business leaders as well as our technology organization. Develop a deep understanding of both the current and future state business needs and how those relate to technology.

?      Own the solutions architecture for the Backoffice, both in its current state and the changes to drive it forward in line with future business and technology strategy.

?      Design technology solutions that best match the business needs with general enterprise technology capabilities that they already have, as well as details of what is needed where there are gaps in existing capabilities.

?      Conduct technical analysis and present design options of business solutions as part of the project intake process for new initiatives.

?      Build and maintain the current-state and future-state solutions architecture views for various specific initiatives for the business. Drive broader architectures when the overall solution spans multiple technology domains.

?      Deliver various artifacts as part of the solutions architecture, including reference designs, architecture roadmaps/backlogs, and tech debt inventories.

?      Design the appropriate integration patterns between domain applications and the rest of the enterprise.

?      Collaborate with domain architects across the organization on the details of the capabilities needed in their areas to deliver broader business solutions.

?      Work with enterprise data, applications, systems, and security architects in relation to overall solution architecture.

?      Direct resolution of complex process/technology issues in both production and pre-production environments.

?      Support complex legacy systems retirement due diligence to provide visibility of issues in advance, and work with businesses to implement new solutions to allow legacy retirements to proceed.

?      Participate on the architecture council to provide governance and build processes to guide and sanction critical architectural decisions.

?      Monitor market/technology trends along with vendor strategies and determine potential impact to our businesses and systems.

?      Develop, document, and present recommendation proposals, including selection criteria, evaluation, analysis of options, tradeoffs, justifications, and final selections.

?      Take an active and insightful role in group discussions.

Qualifications

?      Minimum bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Advanced degree is strongly preferred.

?      Minimum of 10 years of experience implementing enterprise systems, with minimum 3 years in architect roles with demonstrable growth in scope and complexity of the roles filled.

?      Strong experience as a solutions architect delivering large-scale enterprise technology services that solve specific needs, with focus on composing these solutions from a variety of existing technology services and applications. Able to work across many technical domains to design the technology landscape to meet various business needs.

?      Experience working with cloud-based Iaas, PaaS, and SaaS platforms in a variety of technical and business domains. AWS and/or Oracle Cloud experience are preferred.

?      Experience in agile software engineering methods, specifically providing architecture leadership as part of an agile organization, as well as evangelizing the principles behind Minimum Viable Architecture.

?      Driven collaborative mindset that will push through barriers in the face of ambiguous situations.

?      Continuous learner, able to adapt quickly to new technologies in a challenging and high-growth environment.

?      Strong intellectual curiosity and desire for excellence around leading teams by example, building products, supporting development, and scaling a business.

?      Tenacious problem solver able to make routine decisions as well as sound complex analysis in a fast-paced, technical environment.

?      Must be able to work well autonomously and be a complete self-starter.

?      Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form. Able to articulate concepts and ideas, engage people, and work effectively with others under pressure.

?      Ability to quickly establish credibility with multiple business and technology stakeholders, including executives, engineers, architects, operations, security, etc.

?      Capable of planning and executing on both short-term and long-term goals individually and with the team. Able to incorporate strategic objectives, commitments, and day-to-day tasks seamlessly.

?      Experience in education, publishing, and/or digital media is highly desirable.
